Tachi Palace card loaded - Title contender heads nine bouts at local venue
Julio Gonzalez, a veteran of seven light-heavyweight title
fights, is scheduled to headline a nine-bout card at the
Tachi Palace hotel-casino July 20.
Gonzalez has held the World Boxing Organization, North
American Boxing Organization, World Boxing Council Fecarbox
and the International Boxing Association Continental titles.
The 29-year-old Huntington Beach resident, however, has
fought once since losing to Clinton Woods on Sept. 9, 2005,
for the International Boxing Federation light-heavyweight
title.
An opponent for Gonzalez (39-3,
23 knockouts) has not been determined.
Several Fresno-area fighters are
on the undercard, including Tulare lightweight Hector Alatorre
(11-0,
5 KOs).
Alatorre, who holds the World Boxing Empire's national
lightweight belt, meets Lowell Brownfield (7-1,
2 KOs) in an eight-round bout.
Fresno's Saul Lomas (1-0, 1 KO) fights for the second time
as a professional, against Mario Franco (0-4) in a four-round
featherweight bout.
Orosi welterweight Juan Herrera (10-4-1) returns to the
ring against Anthony Ivy (7-10, 3 KOs) in a six-round bout
and Madera middleweight Joaquin Marquez (1-0, 1 KO) has
a four-rounder scheduled against an opponent to be determined.
The card also features former women's world champion Jessica
Rakoczy (23-2, 8 KOs) -- opponent TBA -- and a women's North
American Boxing Federation junior flyweight title bout between
Carina Moreno (8-1, 3 KOs) and Maribel Zurita (8-7-1, 1
KO).
Heavyweight bouts between Javier Mora (20-3-1, 18 KOs)
and James Walton (21-8-2, 11 KOs), and Manuel
Quezada (13-4, 9 KOs) and Shaun Ross (3-4, 1 KO) round
out the card.
